These are the instructions for configuring Windows 2000 to connect to SpiritOne. Microsoft's Internet Connection Wizard assumes that you will be using Internet Explorer to browse the World Wide Web and Outlook Express to send and receive email. These instructions will allow you to connect to the Internet regardless of which web browser or email client you use, but if you do use another program to browse the Web or receive email, you will need to configure it separately after completing the Windows 2000 setup below.

  1. Click the Start button, select Settings, and click Network and Dial-Up Connections.
  2. Double-click Make New Connection.
  3. On the introductory screen, click Next.
  4. On the "Network Connection Type" screen, select Dial-up to the Internet.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a Local Area Network (LAN).
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the "Setting up your Internet connection" screen, select I connect through a phone line and a modem.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the "Internet account connection information" screen, enter the local SpiritOne dial-up number from the sidebar to the right.
  11. Click Next.
  12. On the "Internet Account Logon Information" screen:
    • In the User Name field, enter your entire SpiritOne or Aracnet email address in all lower-case letters.
    • In the Password field, enter your password.

  17. Click Next.
  18. You may or may not see a screen asking whether you would like to create a new Internet mail account or use an existing Internet mail account. If you do, select Create a new Internet mail account.
  19. Click Next.
  20. In the Display Name field, enter your name the way you would like it to appear when you send e-mail.
  21. Click Next.

  25. Click Next.
  26. On the "Internet Mail Logon" screen:
    • Account name will already be filled in based on the email address you entered. If your login name is different from the first part of your email address, remove what is there and type your login name.

    • If you would like to have Outlook Express remember your passsword, check the box labeled Remember password.
    • Click Next.
