What you see when you start the Internet Connection Wizard depends upon what version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer.  This set of instructions covers the Internet Connection Wizard included with IE5.5 and IE6.  All versions of the Internet Connection Wizard are similar enough that you should not have any difficulties configuring your computer with a different version of the Internet Connection Wizard, since all the versions essentially look for the same information.

  1. Click the Start button, then click Run.
  2. Type inetwiz, then click OK. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard.
  3. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a Local Area Network (LAN).
  4. Click Next.
  5. On the "Setting up your Internet connection" screen, select I connect through a phone line and a modem.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the "Internet account connection information" screen, enter the local SpiritOne dial-up number for your area from the sidebar to the right.
  8. If you are in an area that requires 10-digit dialing, place the area code before the dial-up number in the Telephone Number field (not in the Area Code field). Do not enter a 1.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the "Internet Account Logon Information" screen:
    • In the User Name field, enter your entire SpiritOne or Aracnet email address in all lower-case letters.
    • In the Password field, enter your password.
  11. Click Next.
  12. In the Connection Name field, remove what is there and type SpiritOne.
  13. Click Next.
  14. On the "Set Up Your Internet Mail Account" screen, click Yes.
  15. Click Next.
  16. You may or may not see a screen asking whether you would like to create a new Internet mail account or use an existing Internet mail account. If you do, select Create a new Internet mail account.
  17. Click Next.
  18. In the Display Name field, enter your name the way you would like it to appear when you send e-mail.
  19. Click Next.
  20. In the E-mail address field, enter your SpiritOne email address.
  21. Click Next.
  22. On the "E-mail server names" screen:
    • For My incoming mail server is a [    ] server, make sure POP3 is selected.
    • For both the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server and Outgoing mail (SMTP) server, enter the relevant mail servers from the sidebar on the left.
  23. Click Next.
  24. On the "Internet Mail Logon" screen:
    • Account name will already be filled in based on the email address you entered. If your login name is different from the first part of your email address, remove what is there and type your login name.
    • For Password, enter your email account password.
    • If you would like to have Outlook Express remember your password, check the box labeled Remember password.
    • Click Next.
  25. Uncheck the box labeled "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish."
  26. Click Finish.
  27. Now, from your desktop, double-click on My Computer.
  28. Double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
  29. In Dial-Up Networking, right-click on the SpiritOne icon and select Properties.
  30. Click the Server Types tab.
  31. Uncheck the box labeled Enable software compression.
  32. Click OK.
  33. You're done! Your computer is now configured to connect to SpiritOne.

To connect, either click the Connect button on the "Connect To:" screen, or launch an Internet application (such as Internet Explorer for web browsing or Outlook Express for email), and you will be prompted to connect.
