Zoom X3 Transparent Bridged Configuration
These configuration instructions will guide you through configuring your Zoom X3 modem to provide access for a single computer (transparent bridging), with the IP address assigned by SpiritOne on a device behind the modem. You must set up the Zoom X3 modem before entering any information sent by our DSL department into your computer.
- Follow the instructions provided with your Zoom modem to connect your Zoom modem to your computer and DSL line.
Your computer should be configured to obtain an IP address automatically from the modem. If you are using a Macintosh, select Configure Using: DHCP Server. - Open a web browser and enter 10.0.0.2 in the Address Bar. You should receive a prompt to enter a username and password, unless you have already changed them. Enter "admin" for the username and "zoomadsl" for the password.
- At the top of the screen, click on the Advanced icon.
- Hit the WAN Configuration button.
- Set the Encapsulation drop-down menu to 1483 Bridged IP LLC.
- In the VPI box, enter 0.
- Enter 35 into the VCI box if the modem will be using a Verizon DSL line. If the modem will be using a Qwest DSL line, enter 32 in that box.
- Set the Bridge drop-down menu to Enable. You don't need to change any other settings on this screen.
- Hit the Save Changes button.
- Then, hit the Write Settings to Flash button.
- That's it! Assign the static IP address provided by SpiritOne to whatever device is behind the Zoom modem and you should have a live DSL connection.
