Let Us Connect You
Netscape 6 & 7 SMTP Authentication Configuration
When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.
These instructions will walk you through configuring Netscape 6 or 7 to authenticate with our SMTP server.
- In Netscape, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings from the Edit menu (may be under the Tools menu.
- Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left
- Check the Use Name and Password box.
- Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name box.
- Hit OK.
- That's it! You can now use Netscape 6 to send email through SpiritOne's outgoing mail server. Netscape will prompt you for your password the first time you try to send email.
