Uploading files with CoreFTP

These are the instructions for using CoreFTP to upload your web pages to your web space on SpiritOne. These instructions assume that you have already downloaded and installed the CoreFTP program. If you do not yet have CoreFTP installed, you may download the installer from a shareware site such as Tucows or Download.com.

  1. Open the CoreFTP program.
  2. You'll see the Site Manager screen.
    • You can enter whatever you want in the Site Name box. Enter something that will make it easy to distinguish your SpiritOne account from any other accounts in CoreFTP.
    • Enter the FTP server from the sidebar on the left in the Host/IP/URL box.
    • In the Username box, enter your SpiritOne username.
    • Enter your SpiritOne password in the Password box.
    • Leave the rest of the settings on this screen as they are and hit the Connect button.
  3. Once CoreFTP connects to the server, you will see two windows in the middle of the screen. The window on the left shows files on your computer, while the window on the right shows the files on the server.
  4. If you want to upload a web page, first you will need to enter the public_html directory. To do this, double click on public_html in the right window.
  5. Select the files you wish to transfer in the window on the left, then hit the button with the blue arrow pointing from the left window to the right window. The progress of the transfer will be shown at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Once the files have finished transferring, they will be immediately available on your web site. When you are done, quit out of CoreFTP.
  7. The address of your web site will be:

    http://www.SpiritOne.com/~accountname
    or,
    http://www.aracnet.com/~accountname

  8. Replace the word "accountname" with your own SpiritOne login name.
  9. REMEMBER: your main page must be named index.html or index.htm for our web server to find it.
