Uploading files with SmartFTP

These are the instructions for using SmartFTP to upload your web pages to your web space on SpiritOne. These instructions assume that you have already downloaded and installed the SmartFTP program. If you do not yet have SmartFTP installed, you may download the installer from a shareware site such as Tucows or Download.com.

  1. Launch SmartFTP.
  2. Enter the following information in to the main window:
    • Address: The FTP server address from the sidebar on the left
    • Login: Your SpiritOne username
    • Password: Your SpiritOne Password
  3. From the FTP menu, select Local Browser.
  4. Click on the Connect button.
  5. Drag your files from the Local Browser window and drop them into the ftp.spiritone.com window to transfer files.
  6. When you are done, quit out of SmartFTP.
  7. The address of your web site will be:

    http://www.SpiritOne.com/~accountname
    or,
    http://www.aracnet.com/~accountname

  8. Replace the word "accountname" with your own SpiritOne login name.
  9. REMEMBER: your main page must be named index.html or index.htm for our web server to find it.
