Changing Your Dial-up Number

Use these instructions to change the dial-up phone number when connecting to SpiritOne. To find a Nationwide dial-up number where you are, click here.

Operating System


Windows 95/98

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Dial-up Networking.
  3. Double click on Make New Connection.
  4. Type in a name for the connection, eg. Travel.
  5. Click Next, then Enter the dial-up number.
  6. Click Next then click Finish.
  7. Right click on the newly created connection, then left click on Create Shortcut.
  8. Click on Yes when the error message appears.

Close out of Dial-up Networking and My Computer. Double click on the connection on your desktop. Enter your entire email address for the username (e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Click Connect.

Windows Millennium

  1. Click on Start --> Settings ---> Dial-up Networking.
  2. Double click on Make New Connection.
  3. Type in a name for the connection, eg. Travel.
  4. Click Next, then Enter the dial-up number.
  5. Click Next, then click Finish.
  6. Right click on the connection you just created, then left click on Create Shortcut.
  7. Click on Yes when the error message appears.

Close out of Dial-up Networking and My Computer. Double click on the connection on your desktop. Enter your entire email address for the username (e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Click Connect.

Windows 2000

  1. Click on Start --> Settings --> Network and Dial up connections.
  2. Select Make New Connection.
  3. On the first screen click Next.
  4. Select Dial Up to the Internet then click Next.
  5. Select Manually, then click Next.
  6. Select Phone Line and Modem, then click Next.
  7. Enter the dial-up number.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Enter your entire email address in the Username field, then click Next.
  10. Choose a name for the connection eg. Travel.
  11. Click Next, then click Finish.
  12. Right click on the new connection and select Create Shortcut.
  13. Click on Yes when the error message appears.

Close out of the Network and Dial-up Connections window. Double click on the connection on your desktop. Enter your entire email address for the username (e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Click Connect.

Windows XP

  1. Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections.
  2. Click on Create a New Connection.
  3. On the first window, click Next.
  4. Select Connect to the Internet then click Next.
  5. Select Set up My Connection Manually and click Next.
  6. Select Connect Using a Dial-up Modem, then click Next.
  7. Type in Travel (or something similar) for the name, then click Next.
  8. Enter the dial-up number, then click Next.
  9. Enter your entire email address for the username (e.g., This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
  10. Enter your password in the password space, then put in your password again in Confirm Password.
  11. Uncheck the Make This the Default Internet Connection box, then click Next.
  12. Select Add a Shortcut to this Connection to my Desktop, then click Finish.

Close any open windows. Double click on the shortcut on your desktop to connect.

Macintosh OS 8/9

  1. From the Apple Menu, go to Control Panels and select Remote Access.
  2. Change the dial-up number in the Phone Number field.
  3. Close the window and save the changes.

Macintosh OS X

  1. From the Apple Menu go to System Preferences.
  2. Click on Network.
  3. Click on the PPP tab (if you don't see a PPP tab, where it says show, change that to Internal Modem).
  4. Change the dial-up number in the Phone Number field.
  5. Change the username to your entire email address.
  6. Hit Apply Now then close out of the window.
