Thunderbird SMTP Authentication Configuration

When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.

These instructions will walk you through configuring Mozilla Thunderbird to authenticate with our SMTP server.

  1. In Thunderbird, click on the Tools menu and select Accounts.thunderbird configuration

  2. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left.thunderbird configuration

  4. Check the Use Name and Password box.
  5. Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name field.thunderbird configuration screenshot
  6. Hit OK.
  7. Hit OK to close the Accounts window.
  8. That's it!  You can now use Thunderbird to send email through the SpiritOne outgoing mail server.  Thunderbird will prompt you for your password the first time you try to send your email.
